Director of Learning, 2 Hour Learning (Remote) - $200,000/year USD
Crossover
Description
This role is for academic leaders who prefer designing systems over critiquing them. You possess sufficient subject expertise to recognize excellence in learning, the rigor to translate those insights into measurable rubrics and AI-driven quality mechanisms, and the pragmatism to execute quickly with incomplete data. Student growth matters to you, and you accept accountability for those results.
2 Hour Learning pursues what few in software or education dare to attempt. There are no instructors, no conventional textbooks, and no safety net of traditional pedagogy beneath the platform. AI forms the operational foundation. In this capacity, you will leverage it to produce and refine learning materials, architect interventions, oversee quality standards, and advance platform capabilities. The tempo resembles high-output environments in technology, consulting, or finance more than traditional schooling, and the reward is direct responsibility for subject-area student performance across multiple sites.
This position centers on operating a function. You will construct AI-enabled learning ecosystem upgrades, act on student performance data through focused interventions, produce evidence-backed decision documentation, and lead a team measured against explicit benchmarks tied to MAP, AP, SAT, and ISEE outcomes. You will also collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data science teams to shape platform evolution. It suits individuals who instinctively turn to AI, conduct their own analyses, deliver under uncertainty, and accept full ownership of results. It will not suit those who favor consensus-driven timelines, minimal accountability, or reliance on established methods.
You will serve as a central leader within the academics organization, wielding real authority over your subject's performance and the learning system's broader evolution. Your colleagues will depend on your standards, your discernment, and your capacity to convert student data into tangible action. If that prospect excites rather than daunts you, this role was designed with you in mind.
What You Will Be Doing
- Learning Ecosystem Enhancements — AI-produced refinements to K–12 subject-specific learning experiences spanning content, adaptive learning pathways, and student interventions, shaped by student feedback, platform analytics, assessments, and coaching observations.
- Data-Driven Academic Interventions — Focused intervention strategies for underperforming students or groups, informed by MAP, AP, SAT, ISEE, and comparable performance metrics.
- Student Performance Decision Records — Replicable, evidence-grounded decisions that document actions taken to improve student outcomes, backed by dashboards, analytics, ticketing systems, surveys, coaching interactions, and assessment results.
- Learning Ecosystem Improvement Specs — Execution-ready specifications for product, engineering, and data science enhancements, containing problem definitions, supporting data, anticipated student impact, and acceptance criteria.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Wrapping traditional pedagogy in AI packaging. This is not about digitizing classroom teaching – we are reimagining learning fundamentally.
- Conducting data analysis in a vacuum. Regular interaction with K-12 students is expected, treating their feedback as vital input from our customers.
- Awaiting consensus before taking bold action. You will advocate for an ambitious vision and mobilize others through data-backed outcomes.
- Adhering to traditional educational practices. You will have freedom to test innovative strategies for motivation, assessment, and instruction.
- Viewing AI as a threat to education. In this role, you will embrace AI as a transformative instrument to advance learning outcomes.
