As part of our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Design Team Lead – Aluminum & Façade to lead our Engineering & Design Department at our Al Quoz, Dubai office. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical leader who is passionate about façade engineering, team development, and delivering innovative design solutions.
Position Overview
The Design Team Lead – Aluminum & Façade will be responsible for managing the façade design team, overseeing the preparation of shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation for aluminum, glazing, curtain wall, and façade projects. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and close coordination with Project Management, Estimation, Production, Procurement, and Site teams to ensure projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Design Team to deliver high-quality engineering and drafting outputs.
- Allocate design resources and monitor workloads to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Review and approve shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical submissions before client issuance.
- Establish and maintain design standards, procedures, and best practices.
Engineering & Technical Design
- Develop and review detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings for aluminum, glazing, curtain wall, windows, doors, skylights, louvers, and architectural metal works.
- Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, consultant requirements, local authority regulations, and international standards.
- Perform technical reviews, design coordination, and value engineering to optimize cost and constructability.
- Resolve complex engineering and technical design issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Planning Engineers, Estimation, Procurement, Production, QA/QC, and Site teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Attend design coordination meetings with clients, consultants, architects, and contractors.
- Support material approvals, technical submittals, RFIs, and design clarifications.
- Ensure design deliverables align with project schedules and manufacturing requirements.
Production & Fabrication Support
- Coordinate with factory teams to ensure fabrication drawings are accurate and production-ready.
- Provide technical guidance during fabrication and installation.
- Review and resolve workshop and site queries related to design and fabrication.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all drawings and technical documentation comply with company Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Maintain revision control and document management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design quality and efficiency.
Team Development
- Coach, mentor, and train Design Engineers and AutoCAD Draftsmen.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify development opportunities.
- Promote a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance team culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
