Senior Engineer – Estimation & Production Planning

The Senior Engineer – Estimation & Production Planning will be responsible for reviewing customer enquiries, preparing accurate cost estimations, planning manufacturing processes, coordinating production activities, and supporting the successful execution of projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of CNC machining, fabrication, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes, with the ability to work closely with production, procurement, stores, quality, and sales teams.

The role also requires a good working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D CAD software to review or prepare engineering drawings whenever required and to provide support to the engineering department when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimation & Costing

• Review customer enquiries, RFQs, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Prepare accurate machining, fabrication, assembly, and material cost estimations.
• Calculate machining hours, fabrication hours, material requirements, welding consumables, and subcontracting costs.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Assist in preparing technical and commercial quotations.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing when required.

Production Planning

• Prepare manufacturing process plans and job routings.
• Plan and schedule production activities.
• Prepare work orders and monitor work-in-progress (WIP).
• Coordinate with the Production & Engineering Manager to optimize machine utilization and delivery schedules.
• Assist in resolving production and technical issues.

Engineering Support

• Review customer drawings and specifications.
• Assist in determining suitable manufacturing methods.
• Support the preparation and review of engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation when required.
• Coordinate with the drafting department to ensure production drawings are complete and accurate.

Coordination

• Coordinate with Procurement for material requirements.
• Coordinate with Stores regarding inventory availability.
• Coordinate with Quality for inspection requirements.
• Liaise with customers on technical clarifications when required.
• Support the Production & Engineering Manager in day-to-day engineering and production activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in estimation, production planning, or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, fabrication, and industrial manufacturing.
• Experience in machining and fabrication costing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of production planning and scheduling.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or other equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• UAE/GCC manufacturing experience will be an added advantage.
