Senior Customs Manager

Job Summary

We are recently formed specialist logistics company seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Customs Clearance Manager at a Senior Level to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling import and export customs clearance compliance at both an operational and strategic level. The role is based in JAFZA, but will require oversight and management of clearance in other locations in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and process customs clearance documentation for import and export shipments.
• Be responsible for the preparation, review, and submission of customs declarations.
• Manage online customs declarations, tariff classifications (HS Codes), and duty payments through the Mirsal II & Dubai Trade
• Ensure compliance with UAE customs laws, regulations, and trade requirements.
• Liaise with customs authorities, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transport providers.
• Verify and submit essential shipping documents, including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and Delivery Orders.
• Monitor shipment status and resolve customs-related issues or delays promptly.
• Calculate duties, taxes, and other applicable charges.
• Maintain accurate records of customs transactions and documentations at all times and maintain a periodical audit on the custom documents.
• Assist in obtaining permits, approvals, and certificates from relevant government authorities.
• Manage temporary admissions into the UAE.
• Provide regular updates to management and clients regarding shipment status.

Requirements

• Minimum 8-10 years of strong hands-on experience in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or logistics operations in the UAE.
• Strong knowledge of customs procedures and regulations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
• Have a current working knowledge of the requirements for compliance with relevant customs laws, Free Zone (e.g., JAFZA/KEZAD) regulations, and trade restrictions.
• Maintain well-organized archives of clearance documents and customs declarations for the mandatory UAE five-year record-retention period.
• Experience using customs clearance systems and logistics software.
• Well versed with Dubai trade and Mirsal 2.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Sales and Customer Service experience will be an distinct advantage.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
