Draftsman

The Draftsman is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed shop drawings, construction drawings, and as-built drawings for interior fit-out, joinery, and construction projects. The role ensures that all drawings comply with project specifications, consultant requirements, authority regulations, and site conditions while supporting smooth coordination between design, engineering, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preparation of Shop Drawings

• Prepare detailed architectural, structural, and shop drawings based on IFC drawings, project specifications, and consultant requirements.
• Develop accurate drawings suitable for consultant approval and construction execution.
• Ensure all drawings are coordinated, technically accurate, and ready for submission.
• Produce detailed plans, elevations, sections, and fabrication drawings as required.

2. Drawing Coordination

• Coordinate with Architects, Engineers, MEP teams, Project Managers, and Site Engineers to resolve design clashes and discrepancies.
• Participate in technical coordination meetings when required.
• Incorporate consultant, client, and authority comments into revised drawings.
• Ensure all disciplines are properly coordinated prior to drawing issuance.

3. As-Built Drawings

• Prepare and maintain accurate as-built drawings reflecting completed works and actual site conditions.
• Record all approved changes, variations, and site modifications.
• Ensure as-built documentation is completed and submitted in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with site teams to verify installed conditions.

4. Submission Management

• Prepare drawing packages for consultant, client, and authority submissions.
• Monitor drawing approval status and maintain submission records.
• Track revisions, comments, approvals, and resubmissions.
• Ensure timely issuance of revised drawings to project teams.

5. Technical Detailing

• Develop detailed construction drawings, sections, elevations, schedules, and fabrication details.
• Prepare setting-out drawings and construction details required by site teams.
• Produce detailed joinery, fit-out, and architectural detailing where applicable.
• Support technical problem-solving through detailed drawing development.

6. Document Control Coordination

• Maintain drawing registers, logs, and revision histories.
• Ensure only the latest approved drawings are issued for construction.
• Archive superseded drawings in accordance with company procedures.
• Support document control processes related to technical documentation.

7. Quality Compliance

• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, authority regulations, consultant requirements, and company standards.
• Verify dimensions, levels, materials, and technical details before issuance.
• Conduct self-checks and drawing reviews to minimize errors and rework.
• Support quality audits and technical compliance reviews when required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in drafting for construction, fit-out, or joinery projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and related drafting software.
• Experience in preparing shop drawings, detailed construction drawings, and as-built drawings.
• Knowledge of local authority regulations and industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems/ERP software.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
