Position: Project Manager (Civil) – Power & Substation Projects
Experience Required: 15+ Years Overall | 10+ Years in Power/Substation Projects (UAE)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Civil Project Manager to oversee the civil construction scope of high-voltage substation and power infrastructure projects across the UAE. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of delivering complex civil works within power project environments, with thorough knowledge of DEWA and TAQA civil construction standards and a strong command of UAE regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the full civil construction scope of substation and power projects, from mobilization through to handover and commissioning support.
2. Manage civil works including earthworks, foundations, structural concrete, cable trenches, boundary walls, control buildings, and associated infrastructure.
3. Serve as the primary point of contact for client representatives from DEWA, TAQA, and relevant UAE authorities on all civil-related matters.
4. Coordinate closely with electrical and MEP disciplines to ensure seamless interface management across all project phases.
5. Develop, monitor, and update detailed project programs (Primavera P6 / MS Project) and ensure milestones are achieved.
6. Manage subcontractors, site teams, and labor resources; ensure productivity, quality, and HSE compliance at all times.
7. Oversee civil QA/QC processes, method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and material approvals in line with client specifications.
8. Control project budgets and cost forecasts; identify and manage variations and claims in accordance with contract terms.
9. Ensure full compliance with DEWA and TAQA civil construction specifications, local authority requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
10. Prepare and present regular project reports, look-ahead programs, and progress updates to senior management and clients.
11. Mentor site engineers and junior staff, fostering a professional and safety-first site culture.
Qualifications & Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree is an advantage.
2. PMP / Prince2 certification is preferred.
3. Minimum 15 years of overall experience in civil construction, with at least 10 years specifically in power/substation projects within the UAE.
4. Demonstrated delivery of multiple substation civil packages (66kV, 132kV, 400kV or above).
5. In-depth knowledge of DEWA and TAQA civil specifications, drawing approval processes, and inspection protocols.
6. Strong understanding of EPC contract models and FIDIC conditions of contract.
7. Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project for programme management.
8. Solid knowledge of UAE construction standards, authority approvals, and HSE regulations.
9. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
10. Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
