We are looking for a highly skilled WiFi Engineer with strong Android Automotive experience to drive the development, integration, and optimization of WiFi connectivity solutions on Android Automotive OS (AAOS). In this role, you will play a key part in enabling reliable, high-performance wireless connectivity for modern infotainment and connected vehicle platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering position offering the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art automotive software platforms and contribute to innovative connectivity features that enhance the driving and passenger experience.
Key Responsibilities & Roles
· Develop and integrate Wi‑Fi features for AAOS IVI systems
· Perform Wi‑Fi driver bring-up and integration on new hardware
· Work across stack: Kernel → HAL → Framework → Application
· Enable and debug STA and SoftAP (hotspot) modes
· Support dual-band (2.4 / 5 GHz) and dual MAC/concurrent Wi‑Fi
· Customize wpa_supplicant and hostapd for advanced use cases
· Integrate Wi‑Fi firmware and drivers in Linux kernel
· Debug using adb, logcat, kernel logs, and sniffers
· Optimize performance, stability, and power
· Contribute to system integration, debugging, and testing across the complete software stack.
· Drive Wi‑Fi certification and compliance activities
· Collaborate with cross-functional and OEM/Tier-1 teams
Required Skills
· Experience in Wi‑Fi driver integration and bring-up (Android/Linux)
· Solid understanding of WiFi technologies, IEEE 802.11 standards, wireless networking concepts, and connectivity architectures.
· Strong knowledge of Android Wi‑Fi framework (AOSP/AAOS)
· Understanding of Linux kernel networking (cfg80211, nl80211)
· Expertise in STA, SoftAP, and concurrency (dual-band / dual MAC)
· Hands-on with wpa_supplicant, hostapd, and stack customization
· Experience in Wi‑Fi certification (Wi‑Fi Alliance, interoperability)
· Proficiency in C/C++ and Android networking stack
· Strong debugging skills in Linux/Android environments
Preferred Skills & Background
- Technical degree (BS/MS/PhD) in engineering (software, electrical, telecommunication, embedded systems or related)
- Ability to understand technical requirements and engage in engineering discussions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on engineering mindset
· Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional and globally distributed teams
· Good verbal and written communication skills in English; German language skills are considered a strong advantage
