Job Purpose:
To ensure reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of pharmaceutical production equipment and automation systems. The Electronics Engineer will support preventive and corrective maintenance activities, diagnose and resolve automation-related issues, and ensure compliance with GMP requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve faults related to PLC, HMI, VFD, servo drives, sensors, and control systems.
- Support automation systems used in production lines, including filling, blistering, cartoning, labeling, and inspection machines.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities according to the approved maintenance schedule.
- Analyze equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Modify and optimize PLC programs under approved change control procedures.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely resolution of equipment issues.
- Support installation, commissioning, qualification, and validation activities for new equipment and system upgrades.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, spare parts consumption reports, and technical documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety standards, and company policies.
- Liaise with external vendors and OEMs for technical support and service activities.
- Identify obsolete electronic components and recommend upgrade strategies for legacy systems.
- Provide technical training and guidance to maintenance technicians and production personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional certifications in industrial automation or PLC programming are an advantage.
Experience:
- 3–7 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or packaging industries.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting automated production equipment.
- Experience working with pharmaceutical equipment such as blister machines, cartoners, filling lines, labeling machines, and vision inspection systems.
- Experience with equipment qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) is preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
- Knowledge of HMI systems, SCADA, industrial communication networks, and servo control systems.
- Experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, actuators, relays, and instrumentation devices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control system documentation.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP PM.
- Understanding of GMP, data integrity requirements, and pharmaceutical regulatory expectations.
