Production Control Engineer

Job Summary

The Production Control Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling all production activities to ensure timely completion of fabrication works while maintaining quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. The role coordinates closely with planning, engineering, procurement, QA/QC, logistics, and production teams to optimize workflow, monitor progress, eliminate bottlenecks, and achieve on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, and control daily production activities to meet project schedules.
• Coordinate with Production Planning, Engineering, Procurement, QA/QC, and Logistics departments to ensure uninterrupted workflow.
• Prepare and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production plans.
• Track fabrication progress against approved production schedules.
• Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Monitor shop floor productivity, machine utilization, and manpower efficiency.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve workflow.
• Review fabrication drawings and production priorities before releasing work orders.
• Coordinate material availability with Procurement and Stores to avoid production delays.
• Ensure timely issuance of production work orders and fabrication packages.
• Monitor production status and provide regular progress updates to management.
• Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure inspections are completed as per project requirements.
• Monitor fabrication, assembly, welding, blasting, painting, and dispatch activities.
• Analyze production performance and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare daily production reports, productivity reports, and KPI dashboards.
• Coordinate dispatch priorities based on project schedules and site requirements.
• Support production meetings and communicate priorities to all departments.
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and HSE standards.
• Assist in resource planning, manpower allocation, and production capacity utilization.
• Participate in root cause analysis for production delays and quality issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4–8 years of experience in production control within a steel fabrication, structural steel, PEB, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• UAE/GCC experience is preferred.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication and workshop production control is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong understanding of fabrication processes and workshop operations.
• Knowledge of structural steel fabrication, welding, assembly, blasting, painting, and dispatch activities.
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and production documents.
• Knowledge of production scheduling and workflow optimization.
• Understanding of production capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and fabrication inspections.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles is an advantage.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills.
