Description

OUR VISION

When people use our technology to "bridge the gap" between the physical and digital worlds, they don't just capture reality - they create a new one. In this new reality, they are smarter, more productive, more streamlined, and more creative - because they have the digital foundation to build the world they want to live in.

That's what NavVis offers in all our products and services: the tools to not just map the world as it is, but to pave the way to a better future. To forge something new. Physical or digital, there is only one reality. And it's the reality NavVis empowers people to build better.

THE OPPORTUNITY

NavVis creates mobile mapping devices that capture the physical world in high-fidelity 3D. The Mechanical Engineering team transforms concepts into tested, production-ready hardware, managing the full product lifecycle from prototyping to serial production. As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will bring designs to life by printing, building, assembling, testing, and iterating on the mechanical systems powering our devices.

You will join a small, collaborative mechanical engineering team in Munich and work closely with senior engineers who lead complex design work. Your focus will be hands-on execution: building prototypes, constructing and running test rigs, and handling medium-complexity design tasks. Your contributions will be visible from day one, with a clear growth path toward greater ownership, self-organization, and technical depth.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Build, assemble, and rework mechanical prototypes and sub-assemblies, turning CAD designs from senior engineers into physical hardware ready for evaluation
  • Design, construct, and operate test setups, rigs, and fixtures (for example, IP testing rigs) to validate mechanical performance against defined requirements
  • Execute and document structured test campaigns, delivering clear results that inform design decisions and uncover issues early
  • Contribute medium-complexity CAD design tasks, such as adding defined sub-features to injection-molded parts or modifying existing components under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Support 3D printing and rapid prototyping workflows, preparing parts and assemblies for internal review and functional testing
  • Troubleshoot unexpected mechanical issues during prototyping and testing, such as component end-of-life or underperforming prototypes, and propose practical solutions
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to align on requirements, task definitions, and handoffs, ensuring smooth execution within cross-functional product development projects

WHAT WILL HELP YOU SUCCEED IN THE ROLE

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics, or a Techniker/Meister qualification with 3 to 5 years of relevant hands-on experience; degree holders should have at least 1 to 2 years of experience (strong Techniker graduates with compelling project portfolios from their technical school will also be considered)
  • Proven hands-on experience building, assembling, and testing mechanical hardware in a product development or R&D environment, with a portfolio of tangible work you have built
  • Competent in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting using Autodesk Inventor or similar software.
  • Practical knowledge of prototyping methods, manufacturing processes, and materials relevant to mechanical product development
  • Initiative and a structured approach to problem-solving, including setting requirements for your own tasks and aligning with the right people

Nice to have:

  • Experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping equipment with FDM and SLA
  • Experience building test setups or rigs for mechanical validation
  • Familiarity with injection molding or other serial manufacturing processes
  • Hobby-level or formal exposure to electrical engineering
