Department Overview

At Micron’s Munich, Germany office, the System Engineering team tests and validates Micron memory products on platforms serving multiple market segments. The team prepares, configures, and maintains systems so engineers can perform accurate measurements, analysis, and validation activities in a controlled lab environment. Role Overview

As a Working Student – System Engineering Lab Support , you will support the System Engineering team by preparing systems and lab infrastructure for testing and measurement. Your work will ensure that engineers can focus on analysis and validation by having reliable, well‑prepared hardware and tools available. This role offers hands‑on exposure to system‑level testing of semiconductor memory products in a professional lab environment. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and configure systems and platforms for functional checks, measurements, and validation activities
  • Perform basic system checks, review logs, and document system status prior to engineering analysis
  • Support electronic assembly modification and rework, including soldering components and preparing PCBs for testing
  • Assist with fine‑pitch rework activities (e.g., BGA handling) under guidance from experienced engineers
  • Support lab operations, including ESD checks, equipment readiness, and calibration coordination
  • Maintain lab documentation, databases, inventory records, and support shipments and returned equipment

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a working student in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
  • Practical experience from coursework, labs, or projects involving electronic systems or hardware testing
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and document results clearly and accurately
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment and following ESD and safety guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands‑on experience with soldering or electronic assembly (manual or automated)
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, or power supplies
  • Basic understanding of system‑level testing or hardware validation concepts
  • Experience with simple scripting or tools to support engineering tasks (e.g., Python, Bash, or Excel)

For internships positions in Italy, Micron could pay Eur 900 – Eur 1200 per month, and will grant, in addition meal vouchers for each day worked onsite. The internship allowance is determined based on the highest level of education already completed at the start of the internship, regardless of gender and of any other factor protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.

For working students positions in Germany Micron estimates it could pay from 15 Eur (gross) per hour. The exact amount is determined based on education and level of experience.
