Job Purpose

At Emirates Group our Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACoE) is a centralized unit that provides data and analytics support to Emirates Group businesses. This allows our businesses to make better decisions by using data and analytics to understand our customers, operations, and markets. The ACoE is an essential part of Emirates Group's digital transformation strategy. The unit is helping Emirates Group to become a more data-driven organization and to make better decisions by using data and analytics. As a Senior Data Analyst , you will be fully-participating member of a cross-functional team working autonomously on technology development and problem resolution in the Enterprise Data & Analytics space. The role involves the analysis aspects of sourcing and transforming data to ensure it delivers on the insights required by Emirates Airlines and Emirates Group business stakeholders.

In this role you will:

  • Understands business domains well (e.g. airline, passenger, pilot & crew, aircrafts, HR, Finance). Work with product owners and business users to understand operational source system data and business transformation / data cleansing rules required to ensure that analytical solutions generate the insights required by the business. Operate with a data-driven mindset, helping the business generate those insights based on data.
  • Assist in the collection of data dictionaries and creation of business glossaries. Maintain core data repositories as data sources and interfaces change over time.
  • Understand and maintain data models and data interfaces for the analytical environment to understand availability of data for the required business reports.
  • Conduct simple data gap analysis and data profiling to analyse availability and quality of incoming data and advise on any data cleansing rules, or issue resolution options in case of incidents (including analysis of potential data quality issues). Incorporate business transformation rules into solution designs or mapping documents to ensure solutions provide timely business value.
  • Document proposed or modified data interfaces, including fit for data models, data flow timing, source-to-target mapping, uniqueness criteria and data transformation rules including data validations and controls.
  • Provide feedback on logical and physical data models to ensure they effectively meet the analytical requirements and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the quality engineers to identify areas which need to be validated and ensure data exposed to business stakeholders satisfies their analytical needs. Keep current on evolving Emirates Airlines and Emirates Group data and analytics business knowledge domains to accurately assess the quality of the data and ensure business glossaries remain up-to-date.
Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent)
  • Experience in Information Technology
  • Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering. Specialization or electives in a Data & Analytics field (e.g. Data Warehousing, Data Science, Business Intelligence) a nice-to-have
  • 3+ yrs in Data Analysis experience (Fewer years’ experience will be considered for Masters degree holders)
  • Minimum 3+ years conducting data analysis tasks (e.g. source system identification, data dictionary / metadata collection, data profiling, source-to-target mapping)
  • Proven track record developing and maintaining data documentation artefacts in organizations of similar size and complexity within project deadlines
  • Deep expertise on business transformation rules and understanding of data solution designs
  • Experience writing SQL queries to analyse data and provide results to business users or project team members
  • Experience with building information designs for data-centric projects on one or more of th
