WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
We will shortly be founding a separate company in our Agricultural Solutions division, BASF Agricultural Solutions Deutschland GmbH (BASD). You will then be hired by this new company. Employment will begin on 1 August 2026 at the earliest.
The Environmental Fate Modelling team within BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division is responsible for assessing the environmental behavior and risks of crop protection and biocidal substances using advanced modeling and geospatial analyses. These simulations form the basis for regulatory approvals worldwide. As an Environmental Fate Modelling Scientist, you provide environmental exposure modeling solutions for regulatory risk assessment and develop regulatory strategies with regulatory affairs colleagues to ensure environmental safety and compliance.
- In your new position, you conduct exposure modeling exercises to support environmental risk assessments for active substances used in plant protection products.
- Together with your colleagues, you develop innovative approaches to describe environmental exposure routes relevant for active substances.
- You collaborate closely with interdisciplinary project teams to define realistic timelines, plan and complete tasks efficiently, and summarize key results for onward communication.
- Furthermore, you represent the Environmental Fate Modelling function in internal and external collaborations and actively support knowledge sharing.
- Lastly, you find a work environment that actively promotes the use of artificial intelligence – to support your daily tasks and drive innovative solutions. WHAT YOU OFFER
- PhD or MSc in Environmental Sciences, Hydrology, Soil Science or similar
- expertise in conducting geospatial assessments related to addressing hydrological or ecological topics
- experience with exposure modeling related to the environmental fate and behavior of crop protection chemicals
- proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS), specifically with ESRI software family and/or QGIS as well as programming/scripting languages such as Fortran, Python and R
- excellent communication skills in English, German is a plus
- proven digital and AI focus with the ability to leverage modern technologies and data-driven approaches to enhance efficiency and quality WHAT WE OFFER
