We are currently looking for Private Debt Interns to join our Global Private Credit Team within the Global Investment Platform! The position will be based in our Munich and/or Frankfurt office.
About the Job
In this role, you will be part of the AllianzGI Private Markets investment platform, which manages more than EUR 100 billion in assets and comprises over 150 investment professionals.
The Global Private Credit team invests globally in corporate, real estate, infrastructure, as well as energy transition private debt funds, with a focus on senior, subordinated, and opportunistic credit strategies.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientedInvestment Data Analyst Intern to join our team. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real exposure to the full lifecycle of private credit investing, collaborating across investment, technology, and analytics functions on work that directly informs how we manage and grow our portfolio.
This role sits at the intersection of finance and data – ideal for someone who is as comfortable building a performance dashboard as they are diving into credit fundamentals. You will take ownership of meaningful projects from day one, in a fast-paced environment where your output will be seen and used by the people making investment decisions.
What you do
- Contribute to data infrastructure projects, including improving internal database architecture and supporting AI and LLM enablement initiatives during the underwriting of investment opportunities
- Lead data preparation and feature engineering efforts by collecting, cleaning, and structuring financial and operational data from lender/advisor reports, data rooms, and third-party providers
- Build and maintain performance tracking dashboards in Power BI to monitor portfolio-level metrics including yield, NAV, leverage, coverage ratios, and default rates
- Continuously develop and improve process automation using Python, SQL, and tools such as MS Power Automate, MS PowerApps, and/or Apache Airflow
- Support market research and portfolio analytics on private credit trends, including spread movements, deal terms, and sector dynamics
- Translate quantitative insights into clear inputs for investment committee materials and strategic discussions.
What you bring
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- Proficiency in Python; experience with AI/LLM tools (e.g., prompt engineering, API integration, or RAG-based workflows) is advantageous
- Strong proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools, preferably Power BI; experience with Tableau or similar tools is a plus
- High attention to detail with a structured and rigorous approach to working with data
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver under deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus
- Familiarity with financial statements and core credit concepts (e.g., leverage, interest coverage, DSCR), or a strong willingness to learn
- Prior experience in finance, banking, or asset management is welcome but not required
- You must have a valid enrolment certificate issued by your university for the entire duration of your internship
- For non-EU/EEA nationals studying in Germany, compliance with maximum working day allowances is required
- Availability for a full-time internship starting from June/July, with a duration of 6 months or longer
- Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.
