Job Description
Western Digital is seeking a highly capable and technically grounded Executive Assistant to the Managing Director of Western . This is a unique, high-visibility role that combines executive support with strategic, technical, and project-based responsibilities.
You will act as a trusted partner to the Managing Director, supporting decision-making, driving cross-functional initiatives, and translating complex technical topics into actionable insights. This role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who is looking to operate at the intersection of technology, strategy, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Executive & Strategic Support
- Provide organizational and content-driven support to the Managing Director across a technically complex and diverse scope
- Act as a thought partner in preparing materials, insights, and recommendations for strategic decisions
- Support prioritization and alignment across key initiatives
Technical Content & Communication
- Develop high-quality presentations, concepts, and briefing materials in both German and English
- Prepare, document, and follow up on technical and strategic meetings
- Translate complex engineering topics into clear, executive-level communication
Project Coordination & Execution
- Participate in and coordinate cross-country technical and strategic projects
- Track progress, align stakeholders, and ensure timely execution of key initiatives
- Serve as a connector across engineering, product, and business teams
Strategic Analysis
- Evaluate technical requirements and emerging opportunities in the context of strategic business field development
- Support the identification and assessment of new technologies, particularly in semiconductor and photonics domains
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s or PhD in Engineering (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics) or a related interdisciplinary technical field
Experience
- Early-career professional or post-PhD experience, ideally within the semiconductor industry
- Exposure to cross-functional or international projects is a plus
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of semiconductor technologies
- Knowledge of VCSEL (Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser) technology highly preferred
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; German proficiency strongly preferred
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving approach
- Ability to synthesize complex technical information into executive-ready insights
- High level of organization, ownership, and follow-through
