Senior Software Engineer

We're hiring on behalf of a Haystack partner!

The Role

• Take ownership of architecture for product lines within the ambulatory engineering domain, balancing long-term technical health with short-term delivery capabilities.
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across a diverse technology landscape including C++, Java, Python, and Kubernetes-based cloud services, collaborating closely with engineering, product management, and security teams.
• Drive modernization initiatives, focusing on cloud-native and AI-native architectures, and clearly document architectural decisions, roadmaps, and target states for the engineering organization.
• Mentor engineers and leads, establish reusable patterns and reference implementations, and actively shape the architecture community, principles, and standards.
• Champion an AI-first approach, integrating AI tooling such as agents, skills, and workflows into architectural concepts to maximize their potential.

What You'll Need

• Several years of experience as a Software or Solution Architect within large, distributed SaaS or enterprise systems, with a proven track record of architectural responsibility and decision-making.
• A strong academic background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Deep technical expertise in modern software architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, cloud-native design, security-by-design, eventing) and a broad foundation in C++, Java, Python, and cloud/Kubernetes technologies.
• Demonstrated experience effectively applying AI in software engineering, ideally with practical knowledge of agent-based coding tools and designing AI pipelines.
• Fluency in both German and English, excellent communication skills, high technical credibility, a hands-on mentality, strong problem-solving abilities, and a passion for healthcare technology.
