Delta English School is looking for an experienced Head of Science who can lead the Department of Natural Sciences in creating innovative CBSE Science lesson experiences, ICT-centric pedagogies, evaluation instruments and co-curricular initiatives. This role requires professional skills and judgment to secure high quality teaching, optimal use of resources, effective coaching and mentoring and higher standards of student learning, attainment and achievement. You will work with cross-functional and cross-organizational teams to advocate, implement, and augment STEAM-based educational practices, in line with Delta English School’s vision, mission, core values, and five-year corporate Strategic Plan benchmarks. The ideal candidate will possess enterprise academic operations experience, having managed critical projects in the following areas: curriculum planning, lesson deployment, assessment construction, and advanced curricular enhancement.
Responsibilities
Head of Science, you will manage responsibilities in the following domains for your department:
A. Teaching, Learning and Standards
- Collaborate with Delta IQ – Curriculum Engineering team to build curriculum maps, course syllabuses and CSOs (Content Standards and Objectives) for personalized learning experiences.
- Aggressively grow the school’s digital repository of STEAM-based Science lessons (for Grade Level 01-10), which must be innovative, current, broad, balanced, coherent, standards-based, and differentiated in nature.
- Partner with ICT Leads to create digital Science learning resources.
- Establish KPIs for Department of Natural Sciences and use school attainment data to monitor KPI status.
- Work with faculty to gamify student engagement for Foundations, Mezzanine and GT learning programs to maximize the potential of emerging, proficient and advanced learners, respectively.
- Audit teaching and learning practices as per QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) policies via walkt hrough and peer-to-peer observations, self-reflections, scrutiny of student work and quality of assessments.
- Close department gap between Delta Scholars and at risk students as well as liaise with School Counselor and Psychologist to create Science resources for SEND students.
- Advocate for development of Science enrichment activities to enhance the learning curve.
B. Strategic Direction and Development
- Develop sound processes to steer department performance around data projections and outcomes.
- Coordinate annual department improvement priorities and budgets with internal managers to ensure
adequate staffing in a phased approach.
- Oversee strategic analysis and present key findings to academic and administrative executives.
- Interface with the school’s QIP (Quality Improvement Program) panel for continuous refinement of processes relating to curriculum, organization operations and pastoral functions.
C. Leading and Managing Staff
- Lead, manage and coordinate department work to create a competitive and collaborative atmosphere.
- Encourage faculty to provide pedagogical pipelines, novel learning engagement initiatives and adaptive learning activities for all learner types.
- Aggressively grow a team of innovative and enterprising Science instructors through periodic EPEs (Employee Performance Evaluations), performance advising sessions and new hire requisitions.
- Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new department faculty members.
- Understand and assist in continuous training of teaching-learning processes and process refinements.
