Role: Silicon Test and Validation Engineer

Location: Regensburg, Germany

Work Mode: Hybrid mode (3days on-site per week)

Hiring Type: Freelance / B2B Contract

Start: ASAP

Duration: 6months (anticipated extension)

Job Description:

Define, design and develop optical metrology solutions including hardware engineering, test software implementation, and instrument qualification
Develop benchtop and production instrumentation to characterize complex optical modules and integrated systems (display and optics)
Collect and perform statistical analysis on metrology data to correlate to performance metrics
Explore novel optical metrology technologies and work with suppliers on prototype development
Lead full cycle of tester development against engineering requirement specifications. Take complete ownership of transferring metrology technologies from R&D to mass production
Establish and perform tester alignment and calibration procedures and ensure testers are performing as intended and providing accurate data
Work with engineering design team(s) to clarify/refine performance metric definition for test solution implementation
Up to 30% domestic and international travel required

Minimum Qualifications

BS degree in Optical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline with 2+ years of experience or Advanced Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics
Hands-on experience in optical metrology development from concept to system validation
In-depth knowledge of imaging optics, image quality metrics, optical metrology and characterization
Experience in test automation (instrument control, data collection and analysis) using LabView, Matlab or Python
Proficiency in statistical data analysis using Minitab or JMP
Proficient communication and presentation skills
