Enlightening Science European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany. It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide range of experimental techniques. For our IT&Data Management group we are looking for an Application Integration Engineer (f/m/d)

The Position Operations:

  • Manage, maintain, support, and upgrade facility applications and collaboration platforms
  • Ensure stable and reliable operation of services, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution

Engineering and integration:

  • Analyse requirements and identify appropriate workflows and tools, aligning with infrastructure, operational, and user needs
  • Integrate applications into operational processes and institutional infrastructure
  • Design and develop software modules, scripts, and interfaces to enable integration with institutional services
  • Contribute to testing, documentation, and maintenance of applications and solutions

User support and continuous improvement:

  • Support users in implementing and maintaining workflows and application processes, including training and knowledge transfer
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of application modules and integrations
  • Promote the harmonisation, standardisation, and modernisation of applications and processes Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Solid knowledge of Linux
  • Experience in planning and implementing upgrades, migrations, patching, and maintenance activities
  • Good understanding of application integration concepts, APIs, and interoperability
  • Practical experience with containers, automation tools, and scripting (Python and/or Bash)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and service-oriented approach to work
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to support users and contribute to training and knowledge transfer
  • Profficiency in English (written and spoken)

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Redmine, GitLab, Keycloak, Alfresco, Zulip, Booked, LimeSurvey, or comparable platforms administration
  • Experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, backup, and recovery of production services
